Sean Bernath

Publisher and responsible editor, StillGood?

I run StillGood?. I own the domain, I decide what gets published, I answer the mail, and I am the person accountable when something here is wrong. That is the honest description of my role, and it is narrower than "author" in the usual sense.

How this site is actually made

The pages here are drafted with AI assistance. The explanatory writing, the guides, and the initial compilation of storage durations from federal guidance were produced using large language models working from public USDA, FDA, FoodSafety.gov, and CDC documents. I am not going to put a byline on that and let you assume I typed it.

What I do is decide what this site claims, keep it pointed at primary federal sources rather than at other websites, and fix it when it is wrong. Every duration links the specific government document it came from, which means you are never asked to trust the drafting process — you can open the source and check the number yourself. That is the design, and the disclosure is part of it rather than a footnote to it.

The full process, including what our review dates do and do not mean, is written up in the editorial policy.

What I am not

Not a food scientist, dietitian, doctor, or certified food-safety professional. Nothing here is an original safety finding, and none of it is medical advice. If you are ill, call a healthcare provider rather than reading a website.

Corrections come to me

This is the part that is unambiguously a person. If a duration here contradicts a federal source, email contact@stillgood.food with the page URL and the source you are working from. I check reported errors against the primary document myself before the page changes, and corrections jump ahead of everything else.

If you looked something up here and came away with nothing, that is worth telling me too. More on reaching me on the contact page, and the reasoning behind the project on about.
