Sources
StillGood? does not invent fridge or freezer windows. Every duration on a food page links back to one of the federal documents below.
What counts as a source
We cite only United States federal food-safety guidance: FoodSafety.gov, USDA FSIS, FDA, and CDC. We do not use recipe blogs, brand marketing, or AI-invented numbers. When a federal source is silent on a food, we say so or omit the claim — we do not fill the gap.
Refrigerator windows are safety windows (past them, discard it). Freezer windows are quality windows (food held at 0°F stays safe indefinitely; the listed months are about texture and flavor). This site is not medical advice. Published by Sean Bernath; pages are drafted with AI assistance and checked against these primary documents.
How we resolve conflicts, review dates, and corrections is in the editorial policy. The practical walkthrough is when charts disagree.
How to verify a number
Open any food page, scroll to the Sources card (or use the “Sources ↓” link in the byline), follow the link, and compare the row or paragraph yourself. Prefer the cold-storage chart and FSIS food-specific pages over secondary summaries.
